1. Tim buys a brand new samsung i560 and is immediately excited and decides to mess around with the phone and figure out its nice features such as GPS navigation and so on.
2. as well as handy software and music as well as videos that he seeks for his new phone, he decides to find out more about it on his favorite website - youtube!
3. on youtube he accidentally stumbles on a tutorial on bluetooth hacking. he is immediately intrigued to learn.
4. he follows the link, installs the hacking software and goes to a public place to test out what he has just learned. |

5. a bluetooth search in the application reveals a number of possible victims. he chooses the one named "princess"
6. he connects to the phone and immediately starts looking through what he can do and even playing around with the volume control just for the intention of fun.
7. The phone belongs to April, a random shopper and she is confused because she has no idea why her phone volume is going up and down by itself. She decides it is a simple phone malfunction and continues with her shopping.
8. Tim has discovered April because he has seen her phone make the volume control sounds nearby. With April having no idea her phone has been invaded, Tim begins to go through her sms messages. |

9. Tim has found some interesting sms messages from April's partner saying he is at work and he has left her $1000 for bills and stuff on the washing machine in the garage so he gets a good idea and decides to follow her home.
10. Tim has followed April home and watches her go inside. As he reads on, the sms messages say that she has replied saying she will pick it up the following day because she has to go to dancing and stay at her friends place. Immediately to his amazement, he realises nobody will be home the entire night.
11. He stakes out the house as he waits for April to leave for her dancing lessons.
12. As predicted, April begins walking to her other car, leaving for dancing.

13. Tim watches from his car as April's car leaves the street.
14. Tim checks the house to make sure nobody else is home.
15. He then scouts the neighborhood to make sure that there are no witnesses to the break in that he is planning.
16. The garage is locked so Tim decides to jump the back fence to get in from the back of the garage.

17. Tim finds the rear garage door locked so he uses his club lock to break it open.
18. once inside he easily discoveres the envelope containing the cash on top of the washing machine.
19. checking the envelope he is happy to see the money is all there.
20. Tim makes an exit from the property concealing the new-found cash. |

Reflection My requirements were to post a scenario which
demonstrates possible risks of using a certain technology in todays
society. I chose to look at bluetooth technology and the many
loopholes in the security of this technology because bluetooth is a
technology that is being used day in and day out by the average
consumer. This short story here is a scenario demonstrating how
easily the average novice can breach security of such a technology
that is used widely every day around the world. It consists of a
story which starts out with the intention of a simple harmless
prank and ends up leading to serious criminal activity because of a
privacy invasion which led to information falling into the wrong
hands. It shows how a prankster stumbles on the wrong information
which ends up assisting him in a burglary where he steals a large
amount money from the victim being breached. It also shows the
possibilities of bluetooth hacking and the possible damage caused
by it. The scenario consists of a guy named Tim who is a prankster.
He gets excited with the new technology on his phone and decides to
learn to make full use of it. Tim has no hacking experience but
from a quick tutorial he learns how to breach this technology.
Testing it out he ends up reading some random sms messages from an
unsuspecting April who was shopping in a nearby public place that
day. April was unlucky enough to have private information on her
phone which allowed Tim to follow her home and steal money from her
when she left her home. The only way April could have avoided this
was to not leave private information as critical as this on her
phone. We must be extra careful how we use technology these days
especially if its up to date!
